Coordinator-Student Veterans and Military Services

 

 

 

Position:

 

 

Full-time Coordinator of Student Veterans and Military Services

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree required. 4 years or more experience with veterans and/or military service members strongly preferred.  Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support all aspects of campus efforts directed at recruiting, orienting, educating, serving, retaining and graduating student veterans and student military personnel. 

 

  • Provide academic advising for all incoming veterans and student military personnel as appropriate. 

 

  • Support student veterans and student military personnel connections with other veterans and military personnel and relevant state and federal agencies. 

 

  • Oversee administration of student veterans and student military services within the Center for Adult and Returning Students. 

 

  • Promote awareness of veterans’ issues and advocate for student veterans and student military personnel across campus.

Founded in 1868, UW-Whitewater is a premier public regional university with an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students in 50 undergraduate majors, 13 master's degree programs, and one specialist degree program.  It offers high-quality, career oriented programs with a model general education curriculum. UW-Whitewater is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System.

Community:

Whitewater, a city with a population of over 14,000 is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest.  The immediate area offers a wide variety of summer and winter recreational activities, including facilities of the nearby Whitewater Lake recreational area.  Whitewater is 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison and 110 miles from Chicago.
