Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) is the leading provider of domestic violence intervention and prevention services in Dane County. Founded in 1977, DAIS continues to evolve following its successful capital campaign that resulted in substantive growth for the organization and an enhanced professionalism in how it advances its work. Staff and volunteers are bounded by values of mutual respect, openness, collaboration, and shared responsibility.

The incoming Director of Development (DOD) has an opportunity to influence the trajectory of the organization and become part of a long-term legacy for social justice, empowerment, and advocacy. DAIS is seeking a full-time Director of Development to join our team. The successful candidate embraces the culture of philanthropy and knows how to intertwine communications, development, events, and volunteer engagement to move a mission forward. S/he will embrace planning, relish the opportunity to manage and further develop a strong team, and believe in the power of relationships. Start date can be flexible. Compensation will be based on experience.

Responsibilities include leading fundraising and messaging efforts to advance the mission, strategy, and programs of DAIS as well as extending awareness the organization’s impact throughout the community; setting multiyear strategies related to major donors and trustees; and developing and overseeing strategies for operational plans to diversify and strengthen DAIS funding sources and engage the broader Dane County community. The DOD has direct line responsibility for communications and for stakeholder cultivation, engagement, and stewardship as well as annual appeals, special events, bequests, and grants. As a member of the staff Executive Team, this position also contributes to the development, implementation, and enforcement of organizational strategies, policies, and practices.

A successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, and will have a minimum of seven years of experience leading successful fundraising and development campaigns in a non-profit setting, five years of experience developing and managing professional communications involving social media and public relations, a minimum of five years in a management role and a minimum of three years of experience with staff supervision and volunteer management. Bilingual competency is a plus.
