Staff VP Health Care Analytics Operation

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Location: Minnetonka, MN strongly desired, but other major Anthem office
 locations with major HCA presence would be acceptable


 The Staff Vice President of HCA Operations is responsible for the
 operations and financial controls of HCA (Health Care Analytics)
 Programs and Projects.  This leader will closely with HCA senior
 leadership and business leaders across Anthem on overall analytic
 programs, platform operations and new implementations, financial
 controls, financial management oversite, "make sense of numbers",
 navigate and get creative to solve for financials for HCA, resource
 allocation, decision making, risk management, communications, and other
 key elements of HCA operations.


Primary duties to include but not limited to:
 

  • Project cost estimation, tracking and monitoring of actual costs compared to budgeted costs and monthly status reporting of project financial results.
  • Central intake management including project prioritization as well as tracking and monitoring of all incoming request activity for projects and initiatives inclusive of break-fix and newer enhancements for analytic platforms.
  • Capacity planning and staffing for HCA’s portfolio of assets and projects including project-level resource plan development, implementation and ongoing management.
  • HCA vendor execution management oversight in close working relationship with the HCA Chief of Staff/VP Strategy & Planning and vendors.
  • Testing Coordination including end to end planning and testing execution for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Managing on and off-cycle releases via central HCA Release Management function, which consists of release planning, release readiness assessment, and release execution.
  • Identifying areas of risk and takes corrective steps, including timely escalation, to raise stakeholder awareness and drive risk mitigation action.
  • Identifying and driving action for continuous improvement and cost efficiency, and
  • Developing and enforcing adequate policies and procedures to ensure optimization of operational functions within HCA

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration,
  • Health Care Administration/Policy or other related field. Masters preferred.
  • 15+ years’ work experience in business and/or healthcare fields,
  • 10+ years in leadership roles.
  • 5+ years in the leading Analytic capabilities operational budgets / or development.
  • Strong financial acumen is desired. 
  • Excellent financial management skills including: business case development and cost-benefit analysis and operational process skills. Proficient understanding of the value proposition of analytic capabilities, to drive business results and proven experience working with and being a trusted advisor to senior business executives.
  •  Operational excellence, continuous improvement (e.g. six sigma) skills.
  •  A strong leader who is able to effectively work across multiple functions, cultures and personalities.
