The Communications Specialist will be a key contributor to external/internal engagement, outreach, and branding efforts for the Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD ), as well as the McKenna Center for Human Development and Global Business, both of which are housed within the University of Notre Dame's Keough School of Global Affairs. The Communications Specialist will provide outreach and communications support for a variety of externally funded grants programs funded by federal agencies such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID ) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS ), in addition to foundations and private sector partners.
 
 
Responsibilities will include writing content for externally funded grants, populating website and social media, event communications, and management of internal communications processes. This position requires exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to write in a variety of different styles (e.g., public relations writing, short- and long-form feature writing). Ideally, written deliverables from the Communications Specialist will require little to no spelling, grammar, syntax, or stylistic edits/corrections from supervisors.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required with 1-2 years of previous experience. Preferred higher education or other nonprofit experience. High degree of independence and initiative required. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally and build capacity among colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds and in different settings. Exceptional English writing and editing skills required. Strong experience with Associated Press Style, Chicago Style, and APA Style required. Strong experience with Microsoft Office and advanced word processing required. Ability to travel internationally if needed.
