Part Time Seasonal Code Enforcement Inspector
As seen in Shaw MediaThe United City of Yorkville is accepting applications for a part-time, seasonal Code Enforcement Inspector in the Building Department.
Under the direction of the Building Code Official, the position involves inspecting properties for code violations, addressing community appearance, zoning, building-related issues as well as routine inspections for occupancy permits & administrative duties as assigned. The work is performed independently and involves some independent judgment and action. Among some of the duties performed, the Code Enforcement Inspector receives, records and investigates complaints from the public and City staff regarding violations of municipal codes, ordinances, property maintenance codes, building and zoning regulations; research ownership records, prior complaints, municipal codes & ordinances and state regulations.
Applicants must possess a valid Driver's license & basic knowledge of, or the capability of learning, ICC building codes and property maintenance standards for commercial, industrial and residential properties. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required and 1-2 years of previous inspection experience or similar work experience is desired. All hires must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Hourly wage of $10.00 - $13.00 (up to 35 hours per week) based on qualifications and experience.
