Maintenance Worker I
As seen in Shaw MediaThe United City of Yorkville is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Maintenance Worker I in the City's Parks Department.
The primary duties include ball field preparation, turf maintenance, and the beautification of each site. This person will also work on park projects such as the building and construction of the park sites and their amenities. This position will be required to work after hours and weekend shifts. Snow plowing duties during and after normal working hours is required. Mechanical, carpentry, small engine and two cycle repair skills are a plus.
The Maintenance Worker I also performs a variety of tasks using manual labor and operates one or more types of equipment including wing style mowers, zero turn mowers, skid steer tractors, ball fields groomers, tractors with attachments, CDL type trucks, string trimmers, chain saws, walk behind paint sprayers, sod stripper, power hedgers, and others.
Three to five years of park experience or relevant related field experience is preferred. The qualified applicant should hold a class B CDL with air brake endorsement and be willing to obtain a USDA operator pesticide license within 12 months of hire. Excellent customer service skills and a high school diploma or equivalent are required. Starting salary is $42,330.
