FIRE PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Village of Skokie, IL Fire Prevention Specialist The Village of Skokie is accepting applications for the position of full-time Fire Prevention Specialist. The FPS performs essential tasks related to fire prevention methods, fire inspections, and enforcement of adopted codes and ordinances for the Village of Skokie and the Skokie Fire Department. Inspects existing and new occupancies for applicable code compliance; Reviews architectural drawings for fire protection systems & Life Safety and International Fire Code compliance, including alarm systems, sprinkler systems, exits, etc.; Responsible for managing public education programs for schools, community groups, and at Village sponsored special events; Performs a variety of electronic data entry and other related duties as assigned. Current Illinois Fire Inspectors Fire Prevention Officer AND National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Inspector Level 1 certifications required; Valid Driver's License required; Demonstrated comprehensive fire prevention experience or equivalent experience required; College-level coursework in fire protection and code enforcement preferred; NFPA and/or International Code Council (ICC) Certified Fire Plan Examiner strongly recommended to include Life-Safety/Fire Alarm/Sprinkler System Plan review; ImageTrend Record Management System (RMS) with Inspection Module knowledge preferred; Computer generated pre-plan drawing experience desired; Excellent interpersonal communication skills required; must be proficient with basic office technology.
