COMMUNICABLE DISEASE INVESTIGATOR

Communicable Disease Investigator (Full-Time) Health & Human Services Dept. The Village of Skokie, IL is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time Communicable Disease Investigator. Under general supervision of the Personal Health Supervisor; performs work of moderate difficulty as a disease investigator in a variety of nursing and infectious disease programs and completes deliverables required from IDPH grants and related work, as required; Works with local and state agencies to assure the prompt surveillance, reporting and investigation of reportable communicable diseases and sexually transmitted diseases; Conducts surveillance and epidemiologic communicable disease case surveillance and outbreak investigations in collaboration with nursing and environmental health staff; Conducts patient/provider interviews, contact tracing and electronic surveillance of communicable disease; Provides patient and public outreach, prevention efforts and education; Performs data collection and data epidemiological analysis; Participates in epidemiological surveys; Evaluates risk factors for spread of communicable disease in high-risk transmission settings and recommends mitigation strategies; Attends meetings and community events in the early morning, evenings and weekends; Submits periodic grant operational reports and assists in the grant application process for the LHD DIS Workforce Development Support Grant; Performs other duties, as assigned. Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Nursing or Public health from a nationally accredited college or university required, Master's Degree preferred; Must be able to complete applicable I -Train STI DIS and Communicable Disease trainings within 6 months of employment; Demonstrated knowledge of communicable disease surveillance and epidemiologic outbreak investigations and applicable State of Illinois communicable disease codes; Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and disease surveillance; Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); Demonstrated training and educational experience related to Incident Command System, Emergency Management, and Volunteer management; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Village and other government officials, the business and education communities, and members of community health organizations, including long-term care facilities & licensed day care centers; Must be able to read and write English; Bi-lingual skills helpful, but not required; Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Suite applications required; Valid Driver's License required. The salary range for this position is $70,237 -$89,642. The annualized starting salary range is $70,237 -$77,436 (DOQ). This position is funded 100% through an IDPH grant. When the grant funding expires on June 30, 2025, this position will end, unless additional IDPH grant funding is provided.
