Responsibilities

Sr. Consultant - Business Development/Strategic Planning is responsible for driving the adoption of Verizon's platforms and services in the areas of cloud computing, security and identity management solutions and professional services to complement Machine to Machine (M2M) connectivity services which currently make up the majority of M2M revenues. This role will focus on the advancement of Verizon's "Internet of Things" business in the Intelligent Transportation vertical which encompasses public and private fleet, Peer-to-peer sharing, commercial fleet, supply chain and logistics and asset management.

The successful candidate will work with Verizon Corporate and Vertical Strategy teams, Sales leadership, support, and Solutions Architects to understand industry and customer business challenges, identify the relevant vertical partners, then work to bring to market fully integrated and replicable solution packages that improve operational efficiencies, improve customer service and create new revenue streams. Additionally, the successful candidate will create, manage and grow the funnel for each segment and/or product and work with sales support and client engagement teams to create and administer programs and campaigns. This position represents a key element of the organization which will deploy, evolve, and support the cutting edge technology vision over the coming years.

The Sr. Consultant will partner with key business stakeholders to evolve the business in the vertical, own thought leaderships re: the vertical segments, supporting on-going marquee and reference customers as needed. The position will also partner with colleagues in cloud/security services, professional services, global marketing, industry vertical teams to assess potential opportunities and support the business development and sales processes.

Responsibilities
  • Help chart the future course of Verizon's Internet of Things strategy in the Intelligent Transportation (passenger and freight) and Supply Chain and Logistics areas. Also, includes Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and Autonomous Aerial Vehicle (drone)
  • Collaborate with an experienced group of professionals dedicated to furthering Verizon's leadership position in Intelligent Transportation
  • Support the development and implementation of new business opportunities in the Public and Private Transportation, Collaborative Communities and Sharing Economies
  • Work cooperatively across departments with Sales, Legal, Finance, IT and Marketing to advance service integration in these industry segments
  • Assist the sales process by conducting technical sales presentations and demonstrations in close support of Verizon sales teams
  • Provide guidance for technical responses to RFI/RFP/RFQ's
  • Provide critical technical expertise in contract negotiations with customers and vendors
  • Support the deployment of new customer and new service implementations
  • Work closely with sales teams to establish and enhance relationships with customers
  • Directly assist customers with ongoing technical and marketing development efforts

Qualifications

Education requirement:
  • Minimum BS in Engineering or Business
  • A master's degree (MBA, MS) or similar years of experience is highly desirable
  • Strong domain knowledge is required in at least one of the aforementioned industries with a minimum of 5+ years of experience
  • 5 years minimum experience with wireless networks, M2M experience is highly desirable
  • Must possess knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage client engagements and make decisions that accomplish strategic objectives
  • Should have advanced skills in leadership, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Applicant needs a strong background in strategic thinking, presentation and delivery skills, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel domestically

Technical experience and skills required:
  • Direct knowledge of all wireless technologies, roaming requirements and mobile OS platforms
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with sales and other stakeholders
  • Proven success in engaging executive level customers in at least one of the aforementioned industries to support the sale of multi-year contracts
  • Ability to perform a technology assessment, assess industry trends, determine implications on area of responsibilities, and develop near/long-term strategic position for the business
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-company environment and provide technical leadership
  • Ability to work effectively across the business (marketing, network teams, IT organization) to understand needs, identify device architecture/requirements to fill those needs and work with external technology partners to close on gaps
  • Prior experience providing leadership to development and sales teams in commercially launching network services in one of the aforementioned industries
