RF Systems Performance Engineer

Responsibilities

The System Performance Engineer :
  • Possesses strong technical knowledge of the wireless network, including the RAN and core.
  • Takes ownership of network projects, identifies and forges new processes to optimize network performance.
  • Typically manages multiple projects at a time with little or no supervision.
  • Proactively looks for areas to improve overall network performance. Finds and resolves system issues on the network by utilizing traditional and non-traditional means.
  • Ability to quickly respond to critical service impacting issues with intuitive out-of-the-box ideas and solutions
  • Prioritizes multiple high-visibility projects and drives decisions and resolutions for unique problems that may not have existing/complete solutions
  • Conducts proactive system performance tracking and monitoring to ensure that platforms continue to perform as designed.
  • Proactively improves the network metrics.
  • Interfaces with Sales teams and customers to resolve issues. Attempts to duplicate the customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Master's degree is a plus. Experience in RF Design is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in performance optimization for CDMA, EVDO, and LTE for Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, and/or Motorola end-to-end wireless network architectures, KPIs, and parameters - Ericsson LTE experience is preferred.
  • Expert level understanding of LTE, EVDO, CDMA2000-1X RAN network.
  • LTE network implementation (antenna verifications, drive testing, throughput testing, shake downs, system tuning, and problem resolution) is a plus. Advanced skill set at common suite of performance tools.
  • Understanding of core network including but not limited to Cell Site Router, EBH router (7750/9K), MME, SGW, PGW/xGW, PDSN, HA, AAA, HSS, IMS, etc.
  • Wireless vendor feature or equipment FOA or deployment experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed; overnight travel may be required (
  • Driver's license required.
