Customer Service Representatives

Ashley Furniture HomeStores are looking for the following:

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES—FULL TIME AND PART TIME

Following locations:  Vernon Hills, Algonquin, Schaumburg, and Joliet

Job Summary: A team environment providing quality customer service, administrative and clerical services in support of the Ashley HomeStores.

Responsibilities:

1.    Implement opening and closing procedures adhering to the store’s policies including but not limited to balancing cash, printing reports, and documentation.  

2.   Complete general administrative duties to support sales associates: complete paperwork for the sale transactions; be knowledgeable of financing plans and other terms and conditions of sale and terms for customer pick up or delivery; enter sales data into computer software.

3.    Additional administrative duties include: complete credit memos; performs exchanges; receive and enter payment; file invoices; and manage telephone traffic.

4.    Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service with internal and external customers on the telephone and in person.

5.    Perform all duties according to established office policies and standard operating procedures.

6.    Assist with researching 30-60-90 day reports.

7.    Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and education.  Assist with training other employees and providing backup.

8.    Suggest recommendations to improve standard operating procedures and implement with management’s direction.

9.    Maintain reliable attendance.

10.  Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.                 

Minimum Qualifications:

      1.Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Some college preferred

2. Experience

  • 6 months customer service experience preferred
  • Cash handling experience a plus

3. Knowledge of:

  • Customer Service in retail environment
  • Proper telephone etiquette
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools|
  • Documents Management system
  • Record Management

4.Skills and Abilities

  • Reading and math skills to interpret and calculate customer orders
  • Good keyboarding skills, excellent 10-key skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to learn and become proficient user of Ashley specific computer systems
  • Intermediate level using Microsoft Office Suite and Internet
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Effective, clear, and concise communication skills
  • Possess excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Learn process improvement methods and CQI statistics
  • Adapt to change and remain flexible
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints
  • Respond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiries
