RN Trainer

Progressive Careers & Housing (PH&C) homes located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL.is accepting applications for a friendly and patient RN Trainer to provide basic routine preventative medical care to the individuals we serve and training for non-licensed staff to pass medications.

Job Summary:

  • As a Registered Nurse with PH&C, you will perform assessments, dispense and monitor medication, conduct physical exams and participate in each individual’s person-centered plan to help them reach their fullest potential.
  • The RN also trains non-licensed staff to pass medication and provides annual re-training for them.
  • The RN is responsible for the provision of adequate medical and dental services by setting timely doctor appointments and ensuring they are kept, re-scheduling when necessary and carrying out any instructions mandated by the health care provider, including ordering prescriptions, listing medications in the MAR and ensuring the discontinuation of any medications so ordered.
  • The RN will ensure all medical needs and documentation meet required licensing standards. Duties also include being on call ever day unless other arrangements have been made.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Valid IL RN licensure
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record and reliable transportation required.
  • 2-3 years experience with the DD population highly preferred.
  • If not already approved as an RN trainer by the St of Il, must attend Nurse-Trainer class through DHS within first 60 days of employment.

Work Hours:

  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and on-call some evening and weekends
  • Hours per week: 40.00+

 

Education/Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Possess two years of clinical registered professional nursing experience within the last five years, at least one of which will have preferably been in developmental disabilities.
  • Have successfully completed the Department of Human Service Nurse Trainer Program and received approval as a Nurse Trainer.
