The Quality Engineer will work to ensure Cummins Allison product and/or service provides a high level of quality that meets customer expectation. Verifying the quality and performance of the products in addition to troubleshooting the rectification of any existing errors or defects will be their main duties. The QE will be involved in designing or specifying inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyzing production capability and recommending revision of specifications when indicated. In addition the QE will formulate or help formulate quality policies and procedures as well as conducting training on quality concepts and tools. They will interface with other department personnel within the company and suppliers on quality related issues.
 
This position will report to the Director of Quality Assurance.
 
Responsibilities:
•Maintain quality control of manufactured and incoming supplied components and assemblies.
•Identify Quality issues, and quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are found and drive corrective actions to resolve them.
•Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
•Facilitate documentation and resolution of open supplier quality issues impacting product quality.
•Provide Quality Engineering support to operations activities ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.
•Determine and resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing and materials related issues.
•Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
•Review and analyze results, and recommend changes to processes based upon findings.
•Participate in quality performance reporting.
•Able to monitor and articulate risk from available information to track required KPIs to ensure repetitive quality requirements are met.
•Review and analyze inspection performance processes & data, and present findings and recommendations to the management.
•Ability to develop and maintain sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods.
•Draft, review, or update quality assurance policies, procedures, WIs, forms, and other associated documents to ensure quality certification requirements are met.
•Provide quality engineering support to necessary manufacturing operations and New Product Introduction (NPI) planning activities.
•Analyzing, identifying and implementing manufacturing process improvements, which will improve capability and performance.
•Creating and maintaining Quality documentation, i.e., quality procedures, WIs and forms.
•Maintaining and controlling calibration records for all inspection equipment.
•Performing analysis (GR&R, MSA, etc.) and measurements using existing measurement equipment.
•Develop methods for inspection, testing, sampling plans and training.
•Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques where needed, e.g., SPC, Cpk, Ppk, etc.
•Interface with suppliers and engineering team to implement product and process improvements.
•Experience in ISO9000 standard implementation preferred.
•All other duties as required.
 
Position Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering (prefer Industrial or Mechanical), or equivalent work experience in relevant fields.
•Must have at least 5+ years' experience as QA Engineer is required - conducting quality analysis, quality improvement, quality support and making quality related decisions.
•Experience in a Manufacturing environment required.
•Advocating as the "voice of the customer" demanding the highest quality expectations from the organization.
•Executing the duties of the position such that the focus is largely proactive versus reactive.
•Team player that contributes to building a positive team spirit, driven to contribute to the success of the organization.
•CQE certification is preferred.
•Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
•Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), and the ability to work with customers required.
•Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate.
•Decision making ability coupled with the ability to think logically and methodically to work independently and proactively.
•General knowledge of Tolerance Stack-ups, GD&T and blue print reading.
•Experience in conducting supplier audits.
•Ability to work with minimal supervision.
•Travel to supplier sites as required (Up to 15%).
