We currently have an opportunity for a Network and Telecom Engineer here in our Corporate Information Technology organization.

NETWORK AND TELECOM ENGINEER

This position will be responsible for implementation, maintenance and operation of a converged branch network infrastructure and phone system unification. In addition, the Engineer will partner with external business partners and internal teams to proactively identify, prioritize and resolve critical branch network and telecommunication related issues.

Responsibilities:
•Implement and manage a centralized network security management appliance for 40+ branch locations.
•Configure, Deploy & Test distributed network of firewalls from a single console.
•Manage all aspects of device configuration, policies and firewall traffic.
•Monitor and report the performance of the network against KPIs and take preemptive measures to minimize interruptions.
•Spearhead the implementation of a unified phone system by partnering with selected vendors.
•Configure and test new core / aggregation / access switches, routers and cable management systems.
•Ensure end-user satisfaction by gathering feedback using periodic surveys.
•Troubleshoot network and phone system issues and serve as the point of escalation to Vendors technical support.
•Train technical support staff on solving common network and communication system related problems.
•Create procedures and guidelines when required.
•Suggest counter-measures and optimization techniques for recurring problems as they relate to technical help-desk issues.

Position Requirements:
•7+ years experience related to Network and Telecommunications
•Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field
•Network and telecommunication certifications, a plus
•Strong analytical and Project management proficiency

Technical skills:
•Configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls using a centralized network security management appliance (Palo Alto)
Site-to-Site VPN configuration (Palo Alto)
•IP address management and network authentication systems
•Network security management appliance (Palo Alto Panorama)
•IDS/IPS systems (Palo Alto)
•Configuration of Anti-Virus / URL filtering rules (Palo Alto)
•Cloud based or on-premise IP phone systems (Avaya, ShoreTel, Cisco, 8x8, Ring Central, etc.)
•Configuration of automatic call distribution systems and auto attendants
•Configuration and troubleshooting of QOS and handle call quality issues
•Mobile device management (MDM) solutions

Soft Skills:
•Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and motivation and willingness to work as a proactive team player
•Put in additional time as required, within reason, to accomplish objectives
•Ability to be flexible about project changes and dynamically mitigate risks with mid-course corrective action
•Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams and external partners
