IT Support Specialist

Burke Beverage, Inc is a family owned and operated beer, wine and spirits distributor located in McCook, Illinois.  Our mission is to provide world class service to our retail customers through products, merchandising, innovations and people of the highest quality in the alcohol beverage distribution business.  We currently have an opening for a IT Support Specialist in our McCook/LaGrange, IL location.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Provide maintenance of the computer desktop environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the internal computer network. Administration and internal support of PC’s, printers, servers, scanners, phone system, ERP system and other related equipment. Tasks include end user support, license tracking, and performing PC maintenance, upgrades and configurations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:         

  • Provide technical assistance and support for queries, and issues related to computer systems, software, hardware and peripherals.
  • Maintain daily performance of computer systems and equipment.
  • Install, modify and repair computer equipment, hardware and software.
  • Run diagnostic programs to identify and resolve problems.
  • Develop and modify systems and reports to collect necessary data as requested.
  • Train users on computer systems and technical equipment.
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures and manuals.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.
  • Make recommendations for design and implementation of current and future systems and equipment needs. 
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and conduct oneself in a professional manner that is supportive of management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe and secure work area.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business or related field or equivalent work experience required.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant technical and system administration experience required.

  • Experience with a distribution, warehouse/inventory management system or accounting software is preferred.

  • Knowledge of VIP (Vermont Information Processing) software system a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem solving abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with MS Windows, ERP, AS/400, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with PC hardware and networking.
  • Must have ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and meet planned and unplanned deadlines.  
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Must be a team player and demonstrate positive work behaviors and attitude.
  • Must be professional in interactions with customers and staff.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This position requires a self-motivated, high energy individual who is able to work accurately and effectively with a sense of urgency about getting work done in an efficient manner while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time while maintaining a positive attitude and meeting deadlines is essential.  This position involves physical work requiring sitting, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pivot twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling and balancing. Must be willing to work non-standard hours as required.
