Job Description

The scope of this job is to perform complex accounting and financial reporting functions for the College and the Foundation. Be a key resource person for daily financial accounting issues. Assist in research and implementation of newly issued accounting regulations. Assist with coordination and preparation of annual external audit. Achieve and maintain a thorough operating knowledge in areas of assigned responsibility as detailed below.

-Perform all grant accounting for the College.

-Perform all accounting for the Kishwaukee College Foundation.

-Perform monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger reconciliations; such as, cash, investments, receivables, payables and accruals.

-Perform monthly, quarterly and annual sponsorship billing reconciliations. -Perform monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Aid billing reconciliations. -Maintain Fixed Asset Inventory.

--Identify and capitalize purchases to be classified as capital assets.

--Prepare annual fixed asset ledger and depreciation reports.

--Coordinate annual fixed asset inventory.

-Assist in annual budget preparation.

-Assist in month-end and fiscal year-end closing.

-Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual external audit for both the College and the Foundation.

-Assist in preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

-Assist with the creation, development, and maintenance of internal control processes and procedures for various functional areas within the Business Office. -Prepare state and federal regulatory reports.

-Provide assistance to internal and external customers regarding budgetary and departmental account balances and follow up on any inquiries from such customers.

-Assist in formulating or improving accounting policies and procedures.

-Assist in research and implementation of new regulations and pronouncements. -Prepare various analyses, ad-hoc reports, and reconciliations upon request. -Serve on college committees as assigned.

-Assist in the responsibility of the Business Office operations in the absence of the Director of Fiscal Services.

-Perform internal cash audits.

-Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills -Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills in a team based environment.

-Must be able to manage multiple tasks and meet crucial deadlines with accurate results.

-Must be a detail oriented individual with a strong work ethic.

-Have the ability to research, interpret, and apply various accounting regulations and pronouncements to assigned tasks.

-Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe. Required Experience

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA desired

-2+ Years of Related Accounting Experience

Workload Demands:

-Work is normally performed in a general office setting.

-Work is conducted in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions.

-This position requires light physical activity and movement.
