Special Education Teacher

Allendale Association, a Child Welfare, Mental Health and Special Education facility is currently seeking to hire full time Special Education Teachers for our Educational Services Program.

Positions are currently available at our programs located in Woodstock, IL, Lake Villa, IL and North Chicago, IL.

Job Summary
Allendale Association, a Child Welfare, Mental Health and Special Education facility, is seeking full time Special Education Teachers to coordinate, oversee and provide individual and group educational instruction in order to meet the educational needs of students within the treatment program.​ Candidate will provide direction to Teacher Aides and direction for crisis intervention.​

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, oversees and provides individual and group educational instruction to students.​  Prepares lesson plans; and develops and implements curriculum.​
  • Attends staff in-services, ISBE mandatory training, and team meetings.​
  • Involvement in crisis intervention; behavioral incidents requiring the use of physical restraint or use of a time-out room.​
  • May administer medication as required.​
  • Oversees and monitors the mandatory cumulative classroom records; and prepares and maintains confidential student reports and other statistics/​information related to the Educational Program, and students.​
  • Maintains knowledge of current field trends; maintains membership in appropriate internal and external committees and professional organizations.​  Attends appropriate training programs.​
  • Manages and monitors classroom records, attendance, IEPs.​
  • Supervises children during non-classtime, recreation, and bus duty.​
  • Performs other duties as assigned.​

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Type 10 Certificate LD and/​or BD/​ED
  • Knowledge of Special Education laws, rules and regulations

                    Or will consider:
    Regular Ed.​ Teaching Certification actively pursuing LBS1 Teaching Certification;
    Regular Ed.​ Teaching Certification willing to pursue LBS1 Certification;
    Valid Substitute Teaching Certification actively pursuing LBS1 Teaching Certification.​
