Research Scientist Early Stage Development

HOSPIRA - seeks a Research Scientist Early Stage Development in Lake Forest, IL. Responsible for planning, executing and reporting specific Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) studies for Pharma projects as directed by the Development Team Leader according to the required quality standards and within project timeline constraints.  Serves as subject matter expert in the area of pharmaceutics, formulation and drug delivery, and responsible for executing a wide range of technical/CMC studies.  Approximately 5-10% travel, to other Hospira sites in Australia, Europe, India, and Canada, approximately 3 to 4 trips per year. Must have a Master’s degree in pharmaceutics or pharmacy and six years of pharmaceutical research work experience. Also must have experience with: (i) Executing development of pharmaceutical immediate and modified release generic dosage forms including parenteral and oral dosage forms; (ii) Using analytical techniques, including (a) chromatographic techniques including High Performance Liquid chromatography and Ion Chromatography; (b) spectroscopic techniques including Ultra-violet and infra-red; and (c) wet chemistry analytical techniques including Karl Fischer, Osmolality measurements, and Flame photometry to measure physicochemical properties of pharmaceutical preparations or dosage forms; and (iii) Developing generic dosage forms of new products.
