Beginning May 20, 2019 the East Joliet Fire Protection District will accept applications for the position of FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of hire, unless the applicant turned 35 while serving as a memberof the active or reserve components of the Armed Forces of the United States or the National Guard of any state and is under 40 at the time of examination. All applicants must be certified as an EMT-B, Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter and show proof of enrollment in a Paramedic Class or Paramedic Course Completion at time of application. Those in Paramedic Class or with proof of Paramedic Course Completion must obtain their State of Illinois Paramedic license, and have obtained their Basic Operations Firefighter by the time of hire.

All Paramedics must be licensed in the State of Illinois, and Certified as a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter at time of application and must be a Certified Basic Operations Firefighter at time of hire. Application packets will be available during normal business hours 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday at the East Joliet Fire Protection District Administrative Offices, 911 South Briggs St., Joliet, Illinois Monday May 20, 2019, through Friday May 24, 2019. A $30.00 non refundable fee will be required. Deadline for filing applications will be June 10, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Appointment to the eligibility list will be based on competitive examination as required by law.The written test will be on June 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. The written examination will cover subjects related to the job duties of a Firefighter / Paramedic. The doors to the testing facility will be locked and no one will be allowed into the testing area after 10:00 a.m. Further information, including merit criteria for any subjective components, shall be provided at the time the initial listis established.

Starting Salary: $48,714.30 + $1,000.00 Paramedic Stipend + Benefits.
