SUMMARY

The Baker performs a variety of functions and tasks pertinent to the production, service, and distribution of baked goods to patients, cafeteria, and catering customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Bakes goods for patients, cafeteria customers and catering clients by following standardized recipe directions as required by the production schedule within specified timeframes. Makes use of patient menus, recipes, garnishing instructions and portion charts.

  • Prepares baked goods for catered events and/or special functions as requested.

  • Prepares and serves food in a safe, sanitary manner, ensuring all safety and sanitation procedures are followed. Carries out job responsibilities thoroughly, ensuring all aspects of the job are completed as required.

  • Utilizes all products in a cost-effective manner and in a clean environment. Follows assigned cleaning schedules and procedures to sanitize area. Maintains proper food handling and storage of goods according to Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles.

  • Follows established policies and procedures for all aspects of the job being performed. Works well with other co-workers in a team atmosphere and follows the directions of the supervisor or manager as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    1-3 years of experience preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Illinois Department of Public Health sanitation certification required. City of Chicago certification required for all facilities located in Chicago.

    Sanitation certifications will secured within 6 months of hire.
