Instructor/Lecturer (Variable-Time) (Special Education) (Grayslake, IL)

The Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education is seeking a Program Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor for an off-campus Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) Special Education program at the University Center of Lake County (UCLC) in Grayslake, IL. This is a non-tenure track, term position with an emphasis on coordination and clinical supervision of field experiences for undergraduate students in the Special Education program including observations, meetings and working with UCLC instructors and SIUC SPED program faculty.

Requirements:

1. The rank of Instructor requires a Master’s Degree.  The rank of Lecturer requires a doctoral degree. Degrees should have an emphasis in Special Education or a related field. 

2. Successful teaching experience in K-12 public school classrooms serving students with disabilities.

3. Experience in a leadership capacity in a K-12 school setting

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and time management skills.

Preferred qualifications:

1. Experience supervising or mentoring novice teachers.

2. Participation in Special Education-related professional organizations at regional, state, and/or national levels.

Appointment

  • This is a variable-time, term non-tenure track appointment for fall 2017.  Future semesters are contingent on programmatic needs, funding, and job performance.
