Position:   Corporate Giving & Event Manager

Position Description:

Support Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Strategic Plan and its derivatives by managing key development functions that increase financial resources and awareness of Northern Illinois Food Bank.   Responsibilities will include identifying prospects, meeting face to face and soliciting prospects while achieving Northern Illinois Food Bank’s monetary goals through corporations, special events and promotions.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee corporate, special events and promotions team.
  • Assure proper cost/revenue ratio is maintained.
  • Recruit and train committee members.
  • Solicit gifts from corporations through grants, sponsorships & volunteer opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals, solicitation letters and general special event and promotion marketing materials.
  • Ensure that third-party event policies are being adhered to and meet the requirement for maintaining the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s brand.
  • Identify and recommend individual donors and third-party event donors for increased involvement with Northern Illinois Food Bank through Moves Management process.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and recommend new promotional partnerships.
  • Help package and promote established offsite fundraisers to new partners.
  • Represent Northern Illinois Food Bank as a polished spokesperson.
  • Manage all aspects of Virtual Food Drive program and Food Drives in general.
  • Create, share, and maintain promotion calendar.
  • Work closely with grant writer to submit grants and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Commitment to understanding and supporting Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 years’ experience in a fundraising role for a non-profit organization.
  • Proven track record in executing fundraising activities which raise $50,000 plus.
  • 2 years’ experience soliciting large individual and or corporate gifts.
  • The ideal candidate should have successful experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies and managing events.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to use on-line and Raisers Edge preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with groups and individuals.  This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required and events set up and tear down.  This would require the ability to move files, transport event signage, move silent auction items, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Travel
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
