Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission is to lead the northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships. Working collaboratively with a community of donors, volunteers and feeding programs, the food bank provides food across 13 northern Illinois counties each week. Summary/Objective
Northern Illinois Food Bank is seeking an Inventory/Receiving Team Member who will be responsible for providing support to the Inventory and Warehouse teams by receiving donations and entering data into the Inventory System (Ceres). This position may also assist in other warehouse functions and will provide general support for the inventory team.
Essential Functions
- Assist NIFB Agencies that come to the center with getting and/or loading their orders, shopping for available products, posting their orders, receiving payments for orders, and forwarding paperwork to appropriate departments at main facility
- Receive donations
- Validate and confirm donations (i.e. donor, count, description, pack size, location and code dates)
- Support all Food Bank programs as needed including, if required, deliveries of programs’ orders and pickups of food drives.
- Complete necessary paperwork
- Operate a forklift to move product.
- Help maintain the facility’s safe food handling and sanitation standards.
- Help support the Center’s and Operation’s Department production schedule by meeting both output quotas and quality standards.
- Load and/or unload NIFB vehicles when needed.
- Provide general support to the inventory team in terms of data entry and other projects.
- Work as a customer service ambassador as you work with our agency’s getting to know them and anticipate what products you can offer them to better support their mission.
- Is responsible to adhering to the food safety standards established by Northern Illinois Food Bank as outlined by Feeding America and per AIB accreditation. This includes all applicable training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education, & Experience
- Attentive to detail and accuracy is a must.
- Proficient in Basic Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum high school degree, or GED
- Certifiable on forklift is a plus.
Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as warehouse equipment such as forklifts, Reach-trucks, Electric and Manual pallet movers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and position self on a stool as necessary as well as requires the use of a forklift.
