Extruder Operator

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Takes immediate action to prevent and correct unsafe operating condition and/or injury.
  • Maintains a clean working environments by consistently removing manufacturing debris from the floor, machine surfaces, and by cleaning work surface areas to prevent the buildup of manufacturing residue.
  • Sets up and operates an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Complies with all safety regulations and applies good judgement in safely performing all tasks.
  • Communicates with the shift supervisor all appropriate concerns related to working conditions, safety, injuries, and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients.
  • Turn controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure or die gaps.
  • Review work orders, specifications or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings and adjustments for extruding plastic sheet.
  • Notify lead technician or supervisor when extruded product fails to meet standards.
  • Examine, measure and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as micrometers, or scales. 
  • Record and maintain production data such as meter readings and quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced.
  • Move materials, supplies, components, and finished products between storage and work areas when needed using work aids such as racks, hoists, hand trucks and forklifts.
  • Able to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
  • Determines production requirements by reading and implementing general and special instructions on each order.
  • Reviews and applies the manufacturing bill of materials to each order.
  • Set extruder operating parameters according to the profile set-up sheet.
  • Prepares production run sheet records
  • Operates as a team player to assist all company employees in meeting or exceeding customer expectations and minimize interpersonal conflicts.
  • Other duties as may be requested and/ or assigned by company management.

Pay rates based on skill set, job grades $17-$22hr.

12 hour shifts 6AM-6PM/ or 6PM-6AM.
