Commercial Loan Trainee

First American Bank is providing a unique opportunity for enthusiastic, self motivated college graduates looking to gain exposure and practical work experience within the Commercial Banking industry. The Commercial Loan Trainee is an entry level position in the Commercial Loan department that provides a comprehensive introduction to FAB's commercial environment. This introduction includes observation of daily tasks and basic support to Senior Associates and Relationship Managers who handle the bank's current commercial customers. Based on a successful assimilation into the team and comfort with the department culture (approximately ninety days) this individual will be selected to complete FAB's Leadership Training Program. This six month program will provide an opportunity to fully understand the Commercial Loan department's relationship to other areas of the bank, as well as an assessment of leadership skills and personal drive for results. Upon successful completion of all aspects of training the trainee will then be placed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Spread and analyze various financial reports, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements.

Gain an overall understanding of the day-to-day tasks within the department, including granting and collecting commercial loans.

Complete other tasks as assigned by the commercial loan department's senior management staff. Successfully complete the Leadership Loan Training Program by participating in each defined training rotation required during the program: Teller, General Banking and Systems, New Accounts, Customer Service, Loan Operations (LOPS) and Business Center. Master each technical and system function required during training rotations including: branch transactions and products, customer accounts, customer service, call center and call evaluations, loan applications, branch sales networking, commercial loan operations, and more.

Successful completion and formal evaluation of the Leadership Training Program will lead to a full-time placement in Commercial Lending, or other area within the organization based on the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. A focus in Business, Finance, or Accounting a plus.

Detail oriented with an aptitude for business and customer interaction.

Must be efficient with cooperative work habits, while managing time to account for sudden fast-paced transaction periods.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic business office and computer experience (Word, Excel) preferred.

Must be willing to travel to First American Bank locations throughout the Chicago area during the Leadership Training Program.

Normal hours will be Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while in the commercial loans training.

Must be able to work all hours of bank operation wile in the Leadership Training Program.

Most branch locations are open for business six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule during this time.

This is an hourly non-exempt position.
