SUMMARY

The Lead Electrophysiology (EP) Registered Nurse (RN) leads and coordinates the daily work activities of the EP Clinics and the EP Laboratory in all scopes of services by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. Ensures continuity of care with other departments, physicians and provides training to all Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL), Interventional Radiology (IR), and EP staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads and coordinates the work activities of the Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory and staff. Trains all Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL), Interventional Radiology (IR), and EP staff, Registered Nurses (RNs) and Radiology Technologists on EP Laboratory and procedures.

  • Provides direction to and serve as a resource to all Electrophysiology staff and serve as an educational resource to other staff members in areas of patient care and administration. Provides consultation in area of clinical expertise.

  • Orients and trains staff to insure quality standards and to ensure staff performance is in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

  • Plans, develops, and conducts in-services and training programs with departmental staff. Assists in the evaluation of clinical competence by providing feedback related to staff competencies to department Director.

  • Prepares and adjusts staff schedules in conjunction with the Catheterization Lab Charge Nurse. Sets up orientation for each employee related to specific cases in the lab.


  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience

    Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. One year of EP experience required plus two years of experience in Catheterization Lab, Interventional Radiology (IR), or Critical Care.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Current Illinois Registered Nurse License required. CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
