Position Description
Under general administrative supervision the Research Assistant II conducts a variety of established research and clinic functions. The Research Assistant travels to participant's homes and is responsible for administrating neuropsychological, lifestyle and physical function tests. In addition to administrating test the Research Assistant II is also responsible for drawing blood and obtaining additional specimens as required by research protocol. Research Assistants receive comprehensive training focused on test administration and the proper techniques and protocols for drawing blood. Frequent off-site travel, and travel outside the metropolitan Chicago area is required in this role. The Research Assistant II is responsible for their transportation and must be willing to travel to meet program and participant needs. Reimbursement for millage will be provided at the standard mileage rate. Travel arrangements for work outside of the state will be arranged with the assistance of the department.
Responsibilities
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the research protocols and serves as a resource person to the clinicians and study coordinators
  • Administers neuropsychological, lifestyle and physical function tests with participants and patients
  • Obtains, stores and ships specimens, which includes drawing blood and additional specimens as required by research protocol.
  • Conducts and collects data via interviews
  • Conducts interviews with caregivers
  • Maintains patient and participant charts including editing for completeness and accuracy
  • Frequent off-site travel, and travel outside the metropolitan Chicago area required. Off-site travel is frequent and may occur daily.
  • The ability to travel outside of the state for 1 week within a 2 month period is required.
  • Local transportation throughout the business day is the responsibility of the Research Assistant.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse group of people including elderly patients, caregivers, and staff
  • Must have good organizational skills and ability to prioritize, good judgment and decision-making skills, skill in attending to detail and accuracy in scoring test results
  • Computer proficiency

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30 with in-state and out of state travel
