Plant Human Resources Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Administer Human Resource policies and programs in areas of labor and employee relations, compensation, employment, staffing, training, development, benefits, and safety.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit hourly employees to fill the Plant’s hourly staffing needs in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, as well as all applicable corporate policies. Post open positions, screen, interview, refer candidates to management, conduct background check and drug screening, (referring all felony and misdemeanor arrest and conviction reports to corporate HR for hiring determination), extend employment offers as directed by hiring manager.  Coordinate all temporary labor requests and agency relationships as needed.
  • Work with corporate HR in the recruitment of salaried plant positions, including the scheduling, interviewing, development of the offer, background checks, and former employment reference checking.
  • Perform safety management related activities such as plant inspections and safety training; supervise issuance of personal protective equipment (PPE); conduct investigations; and ensure proper maintenance of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and workers compensation related documentation.
  • Prepare new hire employee paperwork and conduct new employee orientation. Ensure all new hire documentation and processes are complete and in compliance with company policies and procedures, including employment authorization process (SAVE).
  • Maintain paper and electronic data files (HRIS) on all employment activity, including hire, job change, wage change, personal information, employee benefits and termination.
  • Answer questions and assist employees and management in matters pertaining to employment policies and practices. Administer employment policies and practices and benefits in accordance with established procedures and/or collective bargaining agreement.  Consult with corporate HR on complex situations.
  • Respond to employee complaints or allegations by conducting an initial investigation to determine validity of complaints and pertinent facts. Work with corporate HR to evaluate investigation and develop an appropriate response.
  • Coordinate employee events and programs including, but not limited to, plant employee picnic, holiday party, service award program, and annual enrollment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge, analytical ability and communication skills obtained through work experience.
  • Three years Human Resource experience, preferably in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment law.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
