Home Products International is looking for a full-time Material Handler. Home Products International has been in business for over 65 years and is a leading manufacturer of plastic storage containers. Located on the south side of Chicago.

Home Products International (HPI) helps folks get organized. The company makes an array of plastic storage containers, including carts, crates, bins, totes, and tubs (some with more than 60 gallons of stowing space). It also produces closet organizers, clothing hampers, ironing boards, shower caddies, hangers, and hooks. HPI's products are marketed under the HOMZ, Durabilt, Ecostorage brand and sold in North and South America through retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, ACE Hardware, and Bed Bath & Beyond, as well as online via Amazon.com and other merchants. The company also markets its products to hotels and other clients in the hospitality industry.

Material Handler Responsibilities

• Work with Machine Operator to ensure work cells are organized to ensure safe working environment
• Load boxes onto pallets at work cell
• Take finished goods and WIP (Work in Progress) pallets to pallet wrapping machine using manual or electric pallet jack
• Use RF gun to scan master label, confirm pallet configuration & quantity, select appropriate printer, remove label from printer and apply to pallet, take pallet to finished goods area
• Stock and maintain work cell components (i.e. check time stamp, validate scanner, and sign scanner validation board)
• Empty wire cardboard bins at cardboard bailer
• Line clearance (removal of packaging from previous product, before next product run)
• Material Handlers are back-up WIP drivers

Salary and Benefit Information

• Full-time position
• $12/hr
• Converted into Union after 90 days
• Medical insurance through BlueCross

• Overtime is offered
