Oversee all aspects of accounting for revenues generated by the Company's operations. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and maintaining systems, internal controls, procedures and policies to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the customer and roamer revenue and related accounts for the production of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other management reports. Recruit, develop and lead associates in the department providing a challenging, learning and rewarding experience for those who work at U.S. Cellular.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Manages all aspects of customer revenue accounting and roamer accounting
  • Negotiates roaming vendor contracts.
  • Formulates and administers approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.
  • Represents Revenue and Roamer Accounting on company initiatives and cross-functional teams; interacts with functional peers and/or other company management involving matters between functional areas or other company divisions.
  • Provides decision support information and analyses to senior management.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company, internal and external auditors, roaming partners and other stake holders providing information as requested and ensuring that proper information is maintained for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Coordinates projects related to revenue, third party providers/vendors, clearinghouse, roaming partners; manages vendor relationships for issue resolution, invoice verification, etc.; participates in complex and unique accounting projects resolving a wide range of issues requiring creativity and practicality.
  • Provides information to Budgeting and Regional teams supporting the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial reporting packages and provides requested revenue information for the partnerships.
  • Supports product managers with required revenue information for product profitability analysis.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Manages the coordination of the activities of the function with responsibility for methods, staffing, costs and results. Interprets and applies organizational and company policy; assumes ownership for escalated issues.
  • Promotes the Dynamic Organization through various leadership activities; Provides guidance to subordinate associates within the latitude of established policies, develop and administer schedules and performance requirements for own organization.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA required; MBA strongly preferred
  • Ten years of experience with at least two - four years in a leadership roll
  • Broad knowledge in all areas of accounting with an in-depth knowledge of accounting principals and practices (GAAP), financial policies and procedures, and internal controls
  • Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and Word) and knowledge of Access database preferred; extensive knowledge of computer software, general ledger and financial systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to communicate with all levels of management and associates
  • Strong analytical, organization, planning and project management skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills which are necessary to build relationships with other carriers and internal contacts
  • Ability to coach and develop staff; also understands the value of diversity and the importance of fostering an open and respectful work environment
  • Open to new challenges and adaptive to change and varied opportunities
