Program Overview:

This new opportunity is a part of Skills for Chicagoland's Future's recently launched Beyond the Diploma initiative, focused on Chicago's young adult job seekers. Over two years, program participants will work part-time at Walgreens while also attending classes at Harold Washington College to receive their associate degree at no cost to the participant. Upon completion of the program, participants are ready for long-term success at Walgreens and will continue their career path into store management and beyond!

Working at Walgreens:

Starting as a customer service associate (CSA), participants will take the first step in their career journey at Walgreens. CSAs gain valuable customer service and leadership experience, and are at the forefront of Walgreens locations as an integral part in providing a quality customer experience. As a CSA, participants learn basic inventory skills, cashiering responsibilities, merchandising functions, and much more. After achieving success as a CSA, participants will be guided into defined career paths on store manager or corporate career tracks

Attending Harold Washington College:

Harold Washington College is a City College of Chicago conveniently located in downtown Chicago. Participants will be enrolled in an associate degree program, attending 6-12 credit-hours worth of classes per semester over the two-year program. Participants will attend Harold Washington College with no out of pocket costs for the duration of the program.

Program Success:

Program participants will receive support and resources throughout the program from mentors and guidance staff. Additionally, program participants will be interacting with each other and operating as a cohort, providing peer relationships and teambuilding.

• City of Chicago resident
• Qualified to pursue Harold Washington College's associate degree program
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
