Legal Internship Opportunities

Build your success early through hands-on internship experience. We believe in giving our interns meaningful work, opportunity to give back to the community and the potential to join our team full-time.

Responsibilities

Innovation is in our DNA at Verizon. Whether we're collaborating with the biggest names in business, coming up with ingenious new ways for people and communities to connect or creating ground breaking solutions for government, our focus is on transforming the world around us. We harness the power of technology to take on some of the world's toughest challenges. To reinvent the here and now. To provide game-changing answers. To take what's good and make it better. This is your chance to grow, explore and imagine with a global technology pioneer.

Our Chief Administrative Office (CAO) plays a vital role in keeping us at the cutting edge of the industry. The teams within the department are the critical links between each facet of our business. They ensure we're operating smarter, ready to adapt to whatever the ever-changing digital world throws our way next. Take our Operational Excellence team. They find ways to improve processes to make our customers more efficient and effective. Our internal business groups, who benefit from these processes, are themselves kept in perfect working order by our Global Real Estate team.

The success of our telecommunications business is dependent on our Supply Chain team building and managing key relationships with our suppliers. They, along with each of our other businesses across the organization, are supported by our HR team, who keep us on track to achieve our goals. As a leader in the communications field, it's perhaps no surprise that we take our Corporate Communications seriously. This team is responsible for the messages that engage and inspire our employees and customers. Also within the CAO is our Public Policy, Law and Security group, who perform the critical role of protecting the company's legal, security, and regulatory interests at all levels. When negotiations are taking place with large enterprise customers, or technology contracts need to be drafted, for example, our Legal team are on hand to keep everything on course. So, you see, every role within our CAO Department is a vital cog that keeps Verizon performing to the highest possible standard, delivering innovative solutions to businesses and people across the world.

A Verizon internship role will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm. It will be an experience that puts you front and center, allowing you to be hands-on and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive. Verizon's Legal Intern Program (VLIP) is a diversity pipeline initiative intended to create a significant and lasting impact on the legal profession by developing prospective talent through exposure to the practice of law in a corporate legal setting. The program introduces interns to the global and complex nature of in-house legal practice.

Under the supervision of Verizon attorneys, selected interns will have the opportunity to: support negotiations with large enterprise customers by drafting contract amendments; review and/or draft provisions for Verizon's technology and software sourcing contracts; participate in business, sales and marketing meetings; research and summarize legal developments and/or case law in practice areas such as IP, tax and privacy; and contribute to projects that relate to state and/or federal regulatory issues affecting the communications industry. Interns will have the opportunity to produce written work product subject to Verizon confidentiality restrictions.

While the internship is open to all 1Ls, we strongly encourage women and students from ethnically diverse backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in corporate law departments to apply. All applicants regardless of age, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin or disability must be exceptional, eager and ready to thrive in a competitive corporate environment.
