The Lead Basic Skills/Instructional Facilitator is responsible for:
- Providing supervision and leadership to the Instructional Facilitator(s)
- Coordinating participant academic testing and program reporting
- Providing a unique opportunity to employ academic training and peer- teaching to our participants in an unstructured and non-traditional environment. This training is holistic in its integration of the practical aspects of academic tasks with interpersonal skills relevant to the work place.
- Stimulating scholastic improvement in our client population and is expected to guide class participants in their efforts to achieve basic competence in mathematics, reading and writing
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful experience in supervising others (minimum 1 year) teaching basic skills/GED to youth and/ or adults (minimum 2 years)
- Ability to maintain composure under stress and to employ insight and creativity in interpersonal communication
- Exceptional verbal and computational skills
- Prior experience working with individuals with criminal records a plus
- Ability to work within the confines of the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) and in a secured correctional facility
- Ability to work in stressful situations, in a fast-paced environment that experiences frequent short-term changes
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
