Description: Job Summary:
 
The University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences Systems is seeking an Information Technology Technical Associate (Clinical Diagnostic Imaging Systems Analyst).  The Clinical Diagnostic Imaging Systems Analyst’s primary responsibilities are to provide project management assistance, technical support and operational services in the implementation and maintenance of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and systems for imaging. The Clinical Imaging Analyst is responsible for daily operations of information imaging systems, upgrades, issues, reporting, hardware, and user notification. This position meets with vendors to troubleshoot issues, obtain correct product information and pricing information for upgrades/future expansion.
Duties:
 
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
 
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the business functions in order, capacity and limitations of equipment, and desired results in order to resolve data processing problems. This includes daily monitoring of scheduled jobs and backups, storage levels, event and audit logs and acting as the liaison between the Business and vendor(s)
  • Maintain quality control program to assure effective functioning and maintenance of the PACS environment.
  • Works with business partners to assign system security clearance based on levels identified for various positions.
  • May work on other projects or initiatives within the area of discipline, as needed
  • Participate in mentoring and training of staff to ensure professional development
  • Responsible for daily operations of information imaging systems.
  • Leads in the development, plan, and coordination of implementation of new or upgraded applications or data interfaces and resulting data conversions of information across applications
  • Develops and implements projects, using planning techniques and process flow analysis
  • Identify and document clinical and operational workflows as they relate to imaging and radiological software systems, gather input regarding goals and risks and define new application requirements
  • Lead in the design and implementation of new tools, components, and system functionalities. Redesign processes and workflow to improve efficiency of patient care and operations, identifying and documenting the impact of processes and workflow changes upstream and downstream of the point of change.
  • Is responsible for user training and application implementation/modifications as appropriate.
  • Assures proper testing and functioning of software and hardware.
  • Monitors application data interfaces assuring accuracy.
  • Serves as the liaison to software vendor and users for assigned applications.
  • Troubleshoots application, application interfaces and report integrity
  • 24x7 on-call responsibility
  • Plan, perform and test regular software solutions and upgrades with vendor(s). Serves as project lead for system upgrades, installations of additional modules, modality installations and new system implementations.
 
Qualifications: Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:
 
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, related IS field of study or a clinical area of study related to position.
  2. Two years of professional IT experience with software application development including but not limited to healthcare, diagnostic imaging and /or clinical systems/applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of progressively more responsible experience in complex system administration and analysis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of systems operations within the Radiology and Cardiology disciplines, information flows, and sound practices to ensure credibility of the system.
  • Experience in system configuration, upgrades, designing business processes, testing methodologies, and user training. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of personnel in discussions and explanations of complex systems.
  • Able to effectively work in a team environment. Proficiency with other business related software applications (i.e., MS Word, MS Project, Access, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Digital mammography set up and workflow
  • Knowledge of DICOM and other interface protocols.
  • Been part of a PACS implementation or support for a PACS environment
  • Knowledge of systems operations within the Cardiology discipline
  • Experience or knowledge of network architecture, transmission protocols and server configuration
  • Project management skills to coordinate large, multidimensional projects
