If this describes you, then this is the job for you! We are seeking a dynamic Food Service Assistant II who exemplifies professionalism to join our Food & Nutrition team

THIS IS A TEMP TO PERM POSITION WITH A ROTATING SHIFT. YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE FROM 4:00AM TILL 10:00PM.

This Food Service Assistant assembles, operates, and maintains food service supplies and equipment. Assists in tray assembly, loads carts, disposes of garbage and performs various cleaning duties. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs ware washing activities including soak sink procedures, cart unloading, scrap line operation, pot and pan cleaning, dish-machine operation, dish-room cleaning, and cart washing.
  • Pulls and hauls, dirty and clean trays, dishes, silver, pots, pans, racks, carts, equipment, etc. between work areas and dish-room; stores as assigned.
  • Disposes of waste and garbage in proper manner to assigned destination and cleans the area equipment involved.
  • Cleans, as assigned, all spills, surfaces, work areas, and washrooms in kitchen, cafeteria, mechanical area, and/or all carts and equipment.
  • Moves equipment as needed to permit access to walls/floors.
  • Steams all portable equipment; Maintains acceptable sanitary standards at all times.
  • Keeps all drains and floors clean, swept, vacuumed, and/or scrubbed as appropriate, includingrefrigerators, storage areas, production, dish-room, service areas, offices, etc.; runs scrubber as assigned.
  • Helps receive, date, and put away deliveries; stores in proper refrigerators, freezers, or storeroom; rotates stock; cleans shelves, removes pallets.
  • Puts away all produce, equipment and supplies after end of meal or at end of day; labels as appropriate.
  • Assists with patient tray assembly and cart loading; delivers patient carts to patient care areas, and brings back as needed; delivers food and supplies to other units as assigned. (Must manipulate two carts simultaneously).
  • Stacks chairs, moves tables, cleans as assigned.
  • Delivers orders and picks up supplies as assigned.
  • Assists in training personnel as needed.
  • Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous front line foodservice experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate reading ability required.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math skills required.
  • Good interpersonal and solid customer service skills required.
  • Able to operate foodservice equipment such as dish-machine, scrubber, etc required.
  • Ability to lift boxes/food weighing up to 65 pounds with our without accommodation required.
  • Work demands 100% walking and/or standing to include- standing in place for extended periods, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.
  • Work environment involves the ability to tolerate temperature and climate changes (hot, humid, cold, steam, wet).
  • Ability to work close to hot equipment with potential exposure to broken glass, steam, moving belts, etc. required.
