General Summary

The Director of Workforce Development is responsible for overseeing the agency wide job development activities and outcomes of the unified sales force for Safer Foundation Retention Services and Workforce Programs. This position is responsible for ensuring and maintaining effective working relationships with organizations employing Safer Foundation clients. For the ongoing recruitment of new employers and securing job orders that are consistent with the skill level of clients resulting in quality job placements of clients.  This position is also responsible for marketing Pivotal Staffing (subsidiary of Safer) to potential employers and securing new customers to increase Pivotal Staffing revenue and transitional job opportunities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all contractual job placement obligations are met or exceeded per current contractual commitments.
  • Monitor the departmental budget to ensure that all financial targets are achieved.
  • Ensure that all activities of the Workforce Development Department meet accrediting and contracting agency standards as demonstrated by internal and external audits and inspections.
  • Establish and monitor departmental goals that are consistent with Division goals, and ensure that individual staff goals reflect departmental priorities.
  • Ensure that staff productivity is tracked and managed, and that corrective measures are taken when necessary.
  • Oversee the development of all marketing materials and activities directed toward employers.
  • Ensure that existing employers remain satisfied with Safer Foundation services, and that new employers are recruited and retained.
  • Lead marketing and sales efforts to expand Pivotal Staffing customer base and revenue.
  • Ensure that adequate transitional job opportunities are developed either through Pivotal or independently to allow Safer to develop a successful transitional jobs component and meet its contractual obligations.
  • Ensure that all job development activities are consistent with the skill level of Safer Foundation clients, and that job opportunities are accessible to clients.
  • Ensure that effective matching activities occur to place clients in appropriate jobs and adequate follow up is maintained so as to maximize job retention.
  • Work closely with the Client Services Director, to deliver the current contracts.
  • Manage and build relationships with employers, and represent Safer Foundation to the employer and business communities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as assigned.
  • Manage supervisory and administrative staff.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven management and supervisory skills
  • Proven sales and marketing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the specific barriers that people with a criminal record face regarding access to employment

 

 

 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant work experience
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience successfully managing a sales force or similar operation
  • Experience developing and delivering report and presentations
  • Experience managing budgets
