Treatment Correctional Case Manager
General Summary:
The Correctional Case Manager-Treatment is responsible for conducting the initial clinical assessments for clients seeking services in the Substance Abuse Program, assessing appropriate levels of care based on ASAM criteria, and identification of appropriate services within and outside of the program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessments on assigned clients using the method, materials and criteria established by the organization and SAMSA.
- Develop treatment plans that are appropriate to the needs of the individual.
- Based on assessment results, provide appropriate referral to other service providers inside and outside of Safer.
- Conduct group and one-on-one counseling sessions that promote sobriety and engage residents in real-world discussions regarding choices and consequences
- Meet weekly with assigned residents to ensure they are actively engaged in appropriate program activities, whether provided by Safer or other agencies.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics and societal trends and influences
- Knowledge of computer-based applications, i.e. Microsoft Word
- Skilled in active listening and conveying information to others effectively
- Skilled in social perceptiveness (being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do)
- Skilled in critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (counseling, psychology, criminal justice) with 2 years' experience (preferably in a correctional setting)
- CADC or LPC/LCPC required
