Commercial Manager -US

Job Title:  Commercial Manager -US

Responsible To: General Manager US

Purpose of Role: Reporting to the General Manager US, you are responsible for developing the Global Brands business activities, alongside our market leading brands.   You are responsible for leading, teaching and guiding the commercial teams to compete effectively, win in their markets, and for ensuring the business is strong, stable, diversified, and positioned for ongoing growth.

Key responsibilities & tasks:

Strategic:

  • You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, initiating and implementing ambitious sales strategies in order to develop the Global Brands business in the Americas region. 
  • Being proactive and results orientated you will produce robust sales plans, alongside increasing the selling skills of the US team. 

Operational:

  • A player coach, you will lead by example, demonstrating best practices in key account management.
  • In collaboration with the General Manager US, you are responsible for identifying opportunities to develop new business and maintain the current client set.
  • You will prepare and present your annual budgets and sector plans to the General Manager US, and are responsible for their execution and delivery. 
  • Sales figures will be reported on a monthly basis, delivering sales (existing and new) through an effective and well organized sales team. 
  • Identifying and executing strategic partnerships will be an ongoing consideration.
  • You will be required to attend and exhibit (where appropriate) at key trade shows and events on behalf of the organization.

You work closely with digital marketing to define and implement channel campaigns. You work closely with editorial to ensure appropriate editorial/commercial alignment.

Key skills and qualifications required for role:

  • A solid understanding of digital media.
  • Previous experience within a management role running a sales team ideally within a media environment. 
  • You will have an excellent track record in surpassing your targets, negotiating contracts and identifying new business and strategic opportunities for the business.
  • You must demonstrate drive and determination to take the business to the next level within the organization.   
  • Excellent networking/client facing skills. 
  • A full understanding of the products and services provided by the Group is critical, alongside a positive attitude.  
  • Innovative thinking: able to make some product development suggestions to global innovation center (IT+ marketing)
  • You know how to inspire and lead a group of people so they can achieve common business objectives, and are at ease managing various functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels are essential; you will be influencing key stakeholders within the business.
  • A good understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential to this role as it involves presenting annual budgets as well as producing financial reports
