Certified Nursing Assistant

Assists the nursing and clinical staff in providing supportive and high-quality patient/staff care within the Haymarket Center. Facilitates patient initiation and participation in detox program.  Provide patient care in order to stabilize them for assessment and referral for an appropriate level of treatment services.  Flexibility to work various shifts as required.

  • Monitor physical and emotional health status of patients and facilitate appropriate referral to medical, psychiatric, and/or dental evaluation/care
  • Report to Staff Nurse each morning to receive shift report regarding patients who are in need of medical attention
  • Assigned to monitor and respond to the needs of patients within Haymarket Center
  • Monitor blood pressure on clients who are hypertensive and any client who presents with signs and symptoms indicating a need for monitoring
  • Monitor and document Diabetic Glucose levels, reporting any abnormality to the nurse and assist needed medical intervention
  • Monitor vital signs on patients, reporting any abnormality to the nurse and assist in providing any needed medical intervention
  • Timely report any changes in patient's condition, behavior, or incidents to nursing staff
  • Assist in getting the client to the hospital
  • Complete 901 on unit for clinical staff
  • Assist with paper work in Medical Detox Unit
  • Completion of required forms pertaining to patient intake into program
  • Attend patient staffing or interventions
  • Seek appropriate supervision in situations requiring clinical or programmatic decisions

Requires excellent typing and communication skills, high ethical standards, sound judgment, self-starter and detail-oriented.

Minimum of 100 hours of supervised Clinical Training

59 hours of Classroom Training
