JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of the Auditor is to plan and conduct operational and financial audits of the Community Correctional Centers to ensure compliance with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and the American Correctional Association (ACA) Standards.

  • Facilitate and develop a training program for Community Corrections staff and maintain the documentation.  
  • Review and revise local policy.
  • Act as the technical and procedural point of contact for trainees.
  • Plan and conduct operational and financial audits of the Community Correctional Centers to ensure consistency with ACA and IDOC directives and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Works closely with Department of Corrections, American Correction Association, Center staff and all departments that are affected by the audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum four years experience in a correctional setting, including exposure to security and/or operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Requires minimum supervision to perform duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interview individuals associated with the audit.
  • Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

  • BA/BS in Criminal Justice, Human Resources or Business or 4 -5 years equivalent work experience.
