Supervisor, Admissions

The Supervisor Admissions is responsible for assisting in the management of the daily operations of the Admissions area; this includes managing, coordinating, supervising, and overseeing daily operations to maintain proper levels of guest satisfaction through training, as well as compliance with Society policies and departmental standards and procedures. Utilizing your prior supervisory experience, you will be responsible for opening the Admissions office, monitoring and adjusting staffing levels as needed, ensuring locations are stocked with supplies, clean and presentable and have appropriate signage displayed. You will train crew on departmental procedures, including cash handling, guest relations, up selling internal attractions, memberships and other initiatives as instructed, mentor crew for growth and development, and complete and discuss performance evaluations with crew. You will make use of your math skills and knowledge of POS systems to assist in reconciling cash register transactions for all crew performing spot checks to ensure performance complies with departmental standards; run reports to generate revenue and attendance totals for rentals, internal attractions, general admission, parking, and membership sales; perform audits on cash handling and customer service to ensure assigned crew is following established procedures and meeting departmental standards; and, create and maintain spreadsheets for departmental use, including attendance breakdowns, rental reservations, membership sales, advanced ticket orders and promotions. You will also ensure functionality of rental equipment (wheelchairs, ECVs, wagons, strollers) and POS hardware (registers and ticket printers). Furthermore, you will maintain effective communications among various managers, crew and guests, respond to phone inquires for advanced tickets, rental reservations and general information and provide assistance and directions to guests, including effectively resolving guest complaints and escalating to managers as needed.

Position Requirements and Specifications
This position requires the ability to work non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

This is a temporary position. The minimum starting wage for this position is $10.25/hr.
The requirements for this position include:
  • High School graduate or (GED) equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one year customer service related work experience required.
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to operate a POS system accurately and efficiently.
  • Accurate basic math skills required.
  • Intermediate computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve guest and employee relation issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks required.
  • Ability to work with little supervision required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, coworkers, and subordinates required.
  • Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience. Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
Admissions Supervisors may be assigned to work the parking booths, admission booths, guest relations buildings, North and South Buggies, Motor Safari ticket booths, Carousel ticket booth, Dolphin Show ticket booth, Children's Zoo entrance, Hamill Family Play Zoo entrance and temporary seasonal exhibits. It may be necessary to board buses or walk traffic lanes in order to obtain attendance counts and/or collect parking fees. Admissions Supervisors may also be required to temporarily assist at other Guest Services locations as directed, such as food service areas.
