Picnic Attendant

What a way to celebrate summer in Chicago - a picnic event at a favorite destination such as Brookfield Zoo! It may be casual barbecue fare to elegant luncheon cuisine all prepared by our world class culinary team creating the perfectly delightful and fun company event, family reunion or other occasion.

As a Picnic Attendant, you will assist in creating an unforgettable picnic experience for guests by providing extraordinary customer service, properly setting up/breaking down picnic buffet, serving in specified style and method and maintaining the quality of the food presentation. Your enthusiasm and friendly smile will make a memorable event where guests may also visit over 2,000 amazing animals from around the world or leisurely stroll through our beautifully landscaped grounds.

Position Requirements and Specifications
The Picnic Attendant position requires flexible availability to work non-standard hours and availability to work weekends as required. The work schedule for this temporary position is typically Saturdays and Sundays from May - October, usually between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Additional hours may be scheduled based on the needs of the operation. This is a temporary position. Starting wage: $8.55 per hour.

The requirements for this position include:
  • High School graduate or equivalent combination of training/experience preferred.
  • One-year previous catering experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience. Multilingual ability and Spanish fluency a plus.
