SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Manager reports to the Regional Director of Pharmacy and is responsible for managing and directing the day to day services, functions, operations, and activities of the retail pharmacy Department. They serve as the pharmacist in charge on the retail pharmacy state license. The pharmacist in charge ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services, facilitates safe medication use, and meets all legal requirements. The pharmacist in charge assures that all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the profession and business are in compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and directs the pharmacy support personnel
- Supervises the daily work activities of the pharmacy staff.
- Interviews, hires, train, and evaluate employees.
- Recommends promotion, disciplinary action, and/or discharge of supervised employees.
- Establishes work schedules for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Encourages staff development through in-services and continuing education programs and ensures compliance with annual competencies
- Performs staff pharmacist responsibilities as needed.
- Prepares, labels, and dispenses medication based on valid prescription presented by the public. Interprets the prescription and enters it into the computerized patient profile accurately.
- Ensures potential medication problems are avoided by reviewing the patient's medication profile for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, allergies, duplications, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Contacts and advises physicians, nurses and others of identified medication related issues to promote the safest, most cost- effective therapies.

Education and/or Experience
Graduate of a ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree or PharmD degree.
1-2 years of retail experience required
Retail management experience preferred
Computer Skills
Some computer skills required. Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and QS1 pharmacy system preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the State of Illinois.
