SUMMARY

The Student Respiratory Technician performs all aspects of routine airway care and oxygen administration while under direct supervision of a respiratory care practitioner as ordered in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains needed per diem inventories of supplies and gases for all assigned areas.
  • Responds to all Code Blue situations in accordance with departmental policies while under direct supervision of a respiratory care practitioner.
  • Manages non-disposable equipment through cleaning and sterilization process.
  • Performs all aspect of simple equipment maintenance and follows infection control policy.
  • Monitors patient response to all procedures and modifies procedure as situation indicates.

    Education and/or Experience

    High School diploma or equivalent required. Current student of American Medical Association (AMA) approved accredited school of Respiratory Care program required.

    Clinical rotation as a student preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
