Shift: ****PRN as needed for staff coverage or high census, days Monday - Friday and some weekends (associate will be in weekend on-call rotation at least once a month); could start between 7am - 9am

What You Will Do

As an Associate with AMITA Health, you will have the opportunity to
Provides medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
Responsibilities:
  • Assesses patients for nutritional status. Provides interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy.
  • Monitors tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommends therapy adjustments as necessary. Provides medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
  • Provides nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications.
  • Researches and takes initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems.
  • Assists in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintains sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
  • Required Credential(s):
    • One or more of the following:
      • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
      • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Preferred Credential(s):
    • Educator specializing in Diabetes Management.

Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required
  • Bachelors in field, highly preferred
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and licensed in the state of IL(or licensure application in process).


Work Experience:
  • At least one year of dietary experience
  • Working with Adolescent, Adults and Older Adult population
  • Willingness to participate in meal based interventions
  • Experience leading groups
