SUMMARY

The Clinical Educator/Staff RN meets the educational needs of the clinical staff on assigned unit, Assesses staff learning needs, and develops and implements educational plans. Serves as a Staff level Registered Nurse (RN) and a resource to staff.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes yearly assessment of learning needs for designated inpatient units. Assists with developing competencies and in-services to address needs. Maintains records of education plans and attendance.

Trains and orients new employees (to include Meditech training). Participates in unit preceptor orientation meetings. Collaborates with other educators and supports initiating outside presentations.

Provides clinical support and demonstrates competence in all aspects of care for patient population. Serves as a mentor/preceptor in developing staff members.

Performs daily rounds with RNs and remains aware of patient flow, facilitates admission, discharges and transfers. Takes patient load as deemed necessary for safe staffing for patient care.

Monitors observation patients on unit and changes status as warranted.

Resolves immediate patient and staff complaints and refers to manager if unresolved

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Bachelors of Science in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

Three years of clinical experience required.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Meditech, NetLearning, and AV equipment required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registered Nurse with a current Illinois License required. Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification Required.

Certification in area of specialty is preferred.
