SUMMARY

The Echocardiography Technician I is responsible for performing all types of echocardiographic procedures including 2D/Mode, Doppler, Stress Echo, Holter monitoring, etc. in accordance with established Presence Health guidelines and protocols.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Educates patients and family in the purpose, process, and type of test being administered.

Evaluates patient prior to performing tests by reviewing patient medical history; noting past/present illnesses, diagnosis, and medication; checking patient's chart to confirm physician's orders and noting current medication, allergies, etc.

Performs ultrasound venous and arterial peripheral vascular imaging studies and records data on videotape.

Performs venous Doppler and impedance plethysmography and arterial limb pressures, volume pressure recordings and measurements.

Identifies basic dysrhythmias, EKG changes, basic pathology on ECHO and other test results on a preliminary basis to determine need for immediate interpretation by physician or if additional vascular testing is needed.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Training from college course or accredited program preferred. One year of experience in cardiology and/or ultrasound technology preferred.

Language and/or Computer Skills

Ability to speak and write English to the extent necessary for safe and efficient performance of the job.

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Knowledge of word processing software. Meditech experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

ECHO Certification preferred. CPR Certification required.
