SUMMARY

The Rehabilitation Technician performs general, non-technical duties to assist in the administration of physical, occupational and speech therapy. Assists therapist/therapist assistant in positioning, lifting, transferring, transporting and treating patients. All duties assigned are under the discretion and direct supervision of the therapist/therapist assistant in accordance with the State of Illinois Therapy Practice Acts.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Transports patients to therapy area and prepares patients and equipment for treatments, e.g., hydrotherapy. Prepares treatment areas for patients.
  • Provides general assistance to the therapist/therapist assistant(s) with involved patients as directed, which may include exercises with non-involved extremities, general conditioning exercises, assistance with gait and transfers, and assistance with pulsatile lavage setup or dressing changes.
  • Provides modality treatments to patients with set up under the discretion and direct supervision of a therapist, such as hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and paraffin.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment (cleans, disinfects, repairs) inventories supplies, performs routine maintenance checks, performs housekeeping tasks (keeps work areas clean) and opens/closes department.
  • Performs clerical duties such as maintaining statistics, entering patient charges, filing, copying and answering telephones.
  • Makes efficient use of direct and non-direct patient care time. Adjusts schedule to meet patient needs. Picks up additional patients and assists co-workers as needed. Takes initiative to improve department productivity.

    Education and/or Experience
    High School diploma or GED.

    Ssix months of previous patient care experience preferred.

    Computer Skills
    Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word).
