SUMMARY

The Office Assistant, under general supervision, performs a wide variety of routine clerical and reception duties in accordance with pre-established procedures/guidelines. Limited interpretation, judgment and/or discretionary actions are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greets and receives patients/visitors and schedules appointments.
  • Receives incoming telephone calls and handles routine inquires; transfers calls to appropriate party.
  • Maintains files, reports, and records. Searches and investigates information contained therein. Keeps filing up-to-date and in logical file maintenance.
  • Performs word processing of routine text. Performs data entry tasks to record and update information.
  • Processes mail, including the receipt and distribution of same.

    Education and/or Experience

    High School diploma or equivalent required.

    Previous experience preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in use of computers and Windows-style programs required. May require some typing (approximately 30 - 40 wpm) and/or data entry experience, depending on assignment.
