In collaboration with Patient Care Directors, is responsible for clinical operations at AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center - Aurora and AMITA St. Joseph Hospital - Elgin. The Director will work with financial analysts and clinical analytics to identify and will develop and operationalize processes that will improve patient care outcomes, patient throughput, patient satisfaction and productivity. The Director will utilize Lean methodology as appropriate, to identify improvement opportunities. Departments directly reporting to this position include Clinical Education, Dialysis, Venous Access, Wound Care and LDRP. The Director has oversight responsibility for Clinical Informatics as it pertains to nursing. .Accountable to the Regional Chief Nursing Officer for all operational and strategic activities and collaborates with the CNO on patient care policy and practice. Works with ministry administration and other departments to achieve the hospital goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and implements strategic plans to achieve budgeted results and growth objectives for areas of responsibility. Formulates, monitors, and administers the budget for assigned areas.

Monitors and ensures regional clinical and operational performance goals are maintained. Create, analyze and present data and reports relevant to clinical operations and performance measurements.

Evaluate the feasibility, coordination and implementation of new technology or revised systems.

Plans, develops and recommends annual budget. Plans capital equipment and operational expense budgets. Administers and monitors expenditures.

Oversees department staff in planning and implementing delivery of patient care according to identified patient needs and assists medical staff in communicating and coordinating patient care. Utilizes knowledge and skills of unit and department resource personnel in planning and implementing care and resolving complex patient care problems. Coordinates development and implementation of Care Guidelines and Order Sets.

Develops, implements, and evaluates methods to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards.

Actively collaborates with ministry staff, physicians, committees and agencies on issues related to areas of responsibilities patient care, and customer service to ensure patient needs are met.

Plans for participation of staff in Nursing Service Committees to assist in meeting the needs of patients and staff.

Maintains cooperative working relationships with a variety of ministry personnel and physicians in order to resolve problems and to enhance smooth and efficient delivery of services.

Supports and is involved in the ministries' continuous performance improvement efforts designed to enhance patient outcomes, increase patient satisfaction and improve the utilization of the ministries' human, capital and physical resources.

Education and/or Experience

Five years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare is strongly preferred.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of computer software programs to include Excel, Powerpoint and Word.



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations



Illinois licensed Professional Registered Nurse.
